what if choosing joy is the most radical thing you can do?
Not by turning away from the grief and anger about our world burning, but by letting yourself be held by something larger than you.
From there, you can act as you're called to, from purpose instead of panic.
Liberation was never meant to be a solo project.
you've been sold a false choice
Keep going until you burn out, or step back and feel guilty for looking away while the world burns.
So you swing between the two, over and over. Doomscrolling until 1am, then shutting it all off because you can't take any more. Feeling guilty when you rest, because it seems selfish. Doing everything you can, and still feeling like it's not enough. Getting more worn down by the infighting than by the fight. Running on fumes as your body falls apart.
If this is you, nothing is wrong with you. And the answer isn't to do more or to do less.
Here's what almost none of us who care about justice realize: the problem is a story about the world that we inherited and absorbed, without ever knowing it was there.
The poet Audre Lorde warned that the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house. In other words, we can't undo systems of oppression using the same methods and logic that created them.
But the master's deepest tool isn't a law, institution, or prison - it's a cosmology.
A cosmology is the big story we're given about what the world is and how it works. The one we inherited says the world is a machine made of dead parts.
In this story, the land is a resource to extract, your body is a tool you exploit, and Spirit is superstition for the weak.
Nothing is sacred. You are entirely alone, so every crisis is yours to fix.
No wonder you're exhausted. You've been trying to save a world you were taught is dead, all by yourself.
This is what oppression took from us. We've lived inside the machine so long, we've forgotten any other way to exist.
But your soul remembers.
hi, i’m sandra
I know this false choice, because I lived it.
I used to be the rock, convinced that if I didn't carry the weight, no one would.
I felt I had only two choices: silence my needs, or step away and let others get hurt. So I forced my way forward alone, until I burned out.
Wanting to understand why I kept sacrificing myself, I began a twenty-year healing journey. As I released trauma and internalized oppression, I became a clearer channel for my ancestors, the land, and Spirit.
I realized I had never been alone, and that changed everything.
My exhaustion wasn't just personal. It came from a story I'd absorbed without knowing it: that the world is dead and everything is on me. As that story loosened, my whole life began to change.
Spirit led me to let go of old survival strategies, often by letting my life fall apart and leaping into the unknown.
At first I resisted, but each time I jumped, Spirit caught me. Over time, that resistance turned into embodied trust. I didn’t know where I was going, but I trusted that I was on the right path.
So I stopped trying to control outcomes, asked Spirit to work through me, and waited for insights that rang true in my body.
Living this way led me to founding Everyday Feminism which reached millions at its height, creating courses on healing from internalized oppression for thousands, and holding spiritual spaces at WildSeed Society for activists and organizers.
Across all of it, I've seen the same thing again and again: when people stop trying to save a dead world alone and remember they're part of a living one, they don't burn out. They come alive.
Following Spirit also brought joy back to the center of my life. When I stopped carrying everything alone, there was room to rest, play, and feel delight. I came to know joy as my birthright and a sign of an aligned life. It's what lets me give from an overflowing cup, instead of an empty one.
Today, I am a movement chaplain, initiated Korean shamanic priestess, and spiritual midwife. I offer refuge for people committed to justice as they release old survival strategies and reconnect with Spirit. I still grieve for our burning world, but I can show up consistently with joy and hope.
Letters from the Path is my offering so you don't have to walk this path alone, with more ease and support than I had. Not a blueprint to copy, but a way of living to explore and make your own.
you don't have to choose
between burning out and looking away
What if you could face these burning times from a place of joy, purpose, and belonging?
Letters from the Path is an online spiritual community for people committed to justice and liberation who are ready to do the work from joy and Spirit, instead of sacrifice and exhaustion.
It's also the doorway into my village: the community of people I walk alongside, support, and serve.
Whether you're curious how spirituality could support you or ready to deepen the spiritual connection you already have, there's a place for you here.
This isn't another course - nothing to fall behind on, no pressure, no guilt. Just a gentle monthly rhythm you can lean into, whenever you need it:
→ One letter a month. A short, honest reflection and voice note on how I live a Spirit-led life in a burning world, messy middle and all. Read it with your morning tea, or listen on a walk.
→ One live gathering a month. Bring your questions, or just come to listen. Every session is recorded, so you can watch it whenever works for you.
→ A community that's there when you need it. Ask questions, share what's stirring, and find others walking the same path.
→ An easeful practice to support you, whenever you're ready. Lunar Liberation Guide offers a simple moon-cycle structure for bringing these ideas in your own life. Use it, adapt it, or simply enjoy the letters.
You don’t have to be certain of anything. Come as curious or skeptical as you are, as long as you’re open and willing to explore and consider the possibilities offered here. Take what nourishes you and leave the rest.
The magic isn't in how much you do. It's in slowly remembering that you're part of a world that's alive, and that you were never meant to carry it alone.
a different way through
Most approaches to burnout try to change what you do: rest more, set better boundaries, organize smarter. Those things matter.
But they leave the deeper story untouched - the one that says the world is dead, nothing is sacred, and everything is on your shoulders.
As long as that story is quietly running in the background, even rest becomes one more task to get right.
Letters from the Path begins underneath it all. Instead of adding to your to-do list, it changes the very ground you're standing on.
From the very first letter, you'll exhale. You'll recognize yourself, and realize your exhaustion was never a personal failing. It's simply the story you were handed. Knowing there's another way, and that others are walking it with you, brings real relief.
From there, the path moves through four shifts:
*****
1. You feel less alone in the world
Reorienting your cosmology: We take a gentle look at the story we inherited, that the world is just a machine, and start noticing that it's alive. You don't have to believe anything. Just come with a curious mind and open heart.
What it feels like: Standing in the morning light and feeling, just for a moment, like you don't have to hold up the world by yourself.
2. You set down what was never yours to carry
Releasing what isn't yours: We slow down, put down the weight we've been carrying for everyone else, and start letting in the support that's already around us.
What it feels like: Letting out a deep sigh you didn't know you were holding in, and having an evening that finally feels like yours again.
3. You trust your own inner knowing
Recognizing your inner guidance: We practice noticing the guidance that comes from our own souls, our ancestors, the land, and Spirit, in simple, grounded ways. Over time, you stop looking outside yourself for all the answers, even to me.
What it feels like: Making a choice from what feels right deep down—not from fear or obligation—and being at peace with it.
4. You act from purpose and joy
Reclaiming your purpose: We stop pushing ourselves the way the system pushes us, and discover what's truly ours to do in these burning times.
What it feels like: Saying yes to what's yours, no to what isn't, and trusting that it's enough. At the end of the day, instead of feeling drained, you feel satisfied and tired in a good way.
*****
These aren't steps to master in a rigid order. They're a spiral you'll move through again and again, at the pace your life allows.
Whenever you're ready to bring these teachings into your life, Lunar Liberation offers an easeful moon-cycle rhythm to practice them, chosen by the energy you have each day.
What makes this different: It starts with how you see the world, not what you do. It follows your capacity, not the pressure to produce. It strengthens your own inner guidance instead of making you depend on mine. And you never have to walk it alone.

Membership is the doorway to working more with me since individual support and future spaces are just for members.
That way, we get to know each other and be in relationship before we go deeper.
from the moment you join, you get:
joining the village
These days, healing is mostly sold one pricey session at a time. But in a lot of villages throughout history, it worked differently.
It was a relationship of mutual care and reciprocity, where everyone gave and everyone received. People chipped in what they had, like food, a helping hand, or gifts, to take care of their healers. And in return, healers could care for anyone who needed it - without wearing themselves out trying to survive while also tending to the whole village.
Letters from the Path is my way of getting back to that. When you join, you become part of the village that holds me.
Your monthly support means I can rely less on expensive fee-for-service work and offer more free and subsidized spiritual and healing support to people who can't afford it - without worrying about how I’ll pay my bills. Learn more →
That's why this membership is on a sliding scale, rooted in the gift economy. Capitalism asks, "What's the lowest price I can pay?" The gift economy asks, "What can I give so we all have enough?"
How to choose your tier
Here, I'm asking you to choose based on what's true about your resources. So people who have more can make room for people who have less. If you're not sure, pick the tier that feels like a stretch, but not a strain. The descriptions are guides, not rules.
What each tier gets
Everyone gets the same thing: monthly letters and voice notes, live gatherings, our online community, the Library of past letters and recordings, and Lunar Liberation.
Join as a founding member by [date]
You’ll be first to know about new offerings and carry a founding member badge in our online community. The first 10 founding members will also receive a personal 30-minute divination session with me to get direct guidance from Spirit for their path.

Everything lives in our private space on Circle, an online community platform. Think of it like a quieter Facebook group, without the ads, algorithms, or endless scrolling.
You can use it on your computer or through the Circle app on your phone.
That's where you'll find the letters and voice notes, the gathering recordings, the events calendar, and a community feed where you can comment, ask me questions, and connect with other members.
You'll get an email whenever a new letter is posted, with a link straight to it.

Yes, this is still for you if you feel called to this space. It's for anyone who cares about justice and liberation and feels stuck between burning out and looking away.
You don't need a certain job title to belong here. It's for organizers, nonprofit workers, faith leaders, healing practitioners, and people with everyday jobs who feel the pain of our world burning and long to live in a way that's kind to their bodies and aligned with Spirit.
This is a refuge for anyone trying to live outside the logic of systemic oppression by grounding in their spirituality.
-
Not at all. Whether you've never meditated a day in your life, you're curious but skeptical, or you've had a spiritual practice for years, there's a place for you here.
Sandra’s approach is grounded in her experiences and trainings in Buddhism, shamanism, and energy work. But you don't need to practice any of them to join.
People of many faiths and no faith are welcome, and you're invited to bring your own traditions with you. The letters meet you where you are, and you can take what fits and leave the rest.
The one thing we require of everyone who joins is that you're at least open and willing to explore the possibility that Spirit is universal love and that all of life is sacred. You don't need to be certain. Openness is enough.
-
When we say Spirit, we mean the larger, sacred presence that holds and connects all of life. At its heart, Spirit is universal love, because all of life is sacred, including you.
We keep it intentionally non-denominational, so you can call it whatever feels true for you: Source, the Universe, God, Goddess, the Divine, or something else entirely.
From that one foundational belief, many spiritual paths can grow, and yours may look different from mine. All of them are welcome here.
The one thing we require of everyone who joins is that you're at least open and willing to explore the possibility that Spirit is universal love and that all of life is sacred. You don't need to be certain. Openness is enough.

Most of them give you a lot of intellectual content and more things to do.
This one changes the ground you're standing on. It isn't a course with lessons to finish or fall behind on. It starts with how you see the world, follows your capacity instead of pushing you to produce, and helps you trust your own guidance instead of depending on mine.
And it's built on an ongoing mutually caring relationship and the gift economy, not a one-time transaction.

Participation takes as much or as little as you have and want to give. It's designed to be light: a monthly letter to read or listen to, and a live gathering once a month, if you choose to come.
Everything else, from Lunar Liberation Guide to the library of past letters and gatherings, is there whenever you want it.
We meet once a month, on [day, e.g., the second Tuesday] at [time and time zone], for about an hour. Can't make it live? No worries. Every recording is posted in our online community on Circle, so you can watch or listen whenever it works for you.
As long as you're a member, you have access to every letter, recording, and conversation in our Circle community. If you leave, you'll lose access to Circle and everything in it.
-
The sliding scale is how we keep this community financially accessible to all and financially sustainable for Sandra.
When you join, you pick the tier that fits your real financial situation, and not just the cheapest option. Basic needs means critical expenses like housing, healthcare, food, transportation, and childcare.
If you have more to give, you help make room for people who have less.
And if even the lowest tier of $10 per month is a strain, you can ask for a scholarship. No explanation or proof needed. We want everyone who's committed to this path to have a place here. To ask for a scholarship, request one here.
If you want to change your tier or cancel, you can do so anytime in your Circle account settings, no questions asked.
Since membership is month to month, we don't offer refunds for past months.
Cancelling stops your next payment, and you'll keep access through the end of the month you've paid for.
If something goes wrong, like being charged after you cancel, just reach out and we'll make it right.

Yes, Letters from the Path is open to people of all identities. As a person of multiple marginalized identities, I know mixed spaces can carry real risk for people most impacted by oppression. So I tend to these dynamics with proactive care.
In our live gatherings, I use progressive stacking: when there are more questions than time, people most impacted by systemic oppression, such as Black, Indigenous, and people of color, trans and nonbinary people, and disabled people, are invited to go first.
Just send me a private Zoom chat (something like "stack" works). You never have to explain or share your identities.
We gather with shared community agreements to support the members as individuals and as a whole. If harm happens, we may remove the person from the gathering, follow up with them privately to unpack what happened and how to move forward, and then come back to the group with next steps.
You're also always welcome to stay off camera, use a different display name, or ask me to edit something out of a recording.
Over the years, I've held both BIPOC-only and white-identified spaces. As our village grows, I may offer affinity gatherings too.
-
Nope. There's no pressure to talk, turn your camera on, post, or comment. Lots of people get a lot out of just being in the room, resting, and listening.
Show up however feels right for your energy that day.

you don't have to carry
the weight of these times by yourself
The world is burning, yes. But the world is also alive, and it's holding you, even when you can't feel it.
You can keep going the way you have been: lying awake at 1am with the weight of the world on your chest, feeling guilty every time you rest, and watching your body, your relationships, and your joy wear thin, one month at a time.
Or you can start remembering another way: feeling held by a world that's alive, choosing joy without turning away from the pain, and acting from purpose instead of panic, alongside others walking the same path.
Come as you are, with all your grief, your hope, and your skepticism. There's a place at the table for you, and the next letter is already on its way.
When you step into the village, you get:
Monthly letters and voice notes on how I live a Spirit-led life, so you can find your own way to face these burning times with joy and purpose.
A live gathering each month to connect, ask questions, explore how you can bring this into your life, or simply listen
A quiet, caring community space on Circle to walk alongside others and get support
And if and when you're ready to go deeper, you’ll have access to a library of past letters and recordings, the Lunar Liberation Guide for everyday practice, and one-on-one support with me.
Founding members who join by [date] also receive first access to future offerings and a founding badge. And the first 10 receive a personal divination session with me to get direct guidance from Spirit for their path.
Will you join us?
With love and in solidarity,
Sandra Kim
